Carpenter Ant Problems New Jersey Residents Are Likely To Find

Have you ever heard the saying, "What you don't know can't hurt you?" Well, sometimes, this simply is not true. What if there are tiny little shiny black creatures living inside your walls, chewing away at your support beams, creating tunnels and nests, and multiplying like crazy? What if they have been weakening your entire structure for years, and you didn't even know it? Sometimes, what you don't know CAN hurt you--or more specifically--your wallet.

Since carpenter ants can go for years without being detected, they can cause some pretty significant damage. They do not eat wood the way termites do, but they do dig tunnels and galleries. And in those galleries, they create nests, where they multiply. The more they multiply, the more nests they create, and the more nests they create, the more they multiply.

One sign you may notice if you have carpenter ants is tiny holes in wood, with little piles of what looks like sawdust underneath. These are called "kickout holes" and the sawdust is called "frass." Since carpenter ants don't eat wood the way termites do, they need somewhere to put the wood they are digging out of your home. But, frass isn't always easy to see. They may be kicking it out inside your wall voids, in the basement, in an area that is dusty or already has wood particles (such as a wood shop) or in other hidden areas.

Another sign you may notice are the ants themselves. You may see one big black ant, or perhaps a few. Since these ants do almost all of their foraging for food outside, you are unlikely to see many (or any) roaming around inside your living spaces. So, if you see one ant, there are possibly thousands inside your wood.

What can you do about these wood-destroying pests?

If you are certain you have carpenter ants, or you need an inspection done to find out for sure, the experts here at Arrow Pest Control can help. When you contact us, we will send a pest control technician to conduct a full interior and exterior inspection to determine if you have an infestation, where it is, and how the ants are getting in. Outside, we will perform a full exterior treatment. If needed, we will treat the inside of your home as well. After this, we will return for two additional visits to make certain these property-damaging pests have been eliminated. And finally, if your property should be re-infested within one year, we will come back and take care of the problem at no additional charge. Now that is service that should give you peace of mind! Let Arrow Pest Control take care of your carpenter ant problem today. Because sometimes, what you don't know CAN hurt you.
