What do crickets look like?
One of the most common species of cricket to invade homes is the house cricket; adults grow to between ¾ and 7/8th of an inch in length. House crickets are yellowish-brown in color and have 3 identifying dark bands going across their head.
These crickets are winged and are recognized because of the loud “chirping” sounds that the males create by rubbing their forewings together.
Are crickets dangerous?
House crickets have the ability to bite people, but their mouthparts aren’t generally strong enough to puncture the skin. In addition to biting, crickets carry and transmit a variety of dangerous diseases that are spread by their salvia and excrement.
