What do house spiders look like?
House spiders are a very common species of spider; females grow to between 3/16th and 5/16th of an inch in length and males are slightly smaller, grow to between 1/8th and 3/16th of an inch in length.
Their body is yellowish-brown to gray in color and they have dark chevron markings on both their body and legs. Their abdomen is off-white in color; the female’s abdomen is rounded and the male’s abdomen is more elongated in appearance.
Are house spiders dangerous?
House spiders are not considered to be a dangerous species of spider, they do have the ability to bite people, but a bite from a house spider rarely happens. Usually, house spiders only bite if they are being directly threatened, or if they are in the process of being squished or squashed.
The venom from a house spider bite is not strong enough, except for in very rare cases, to cause an allergic reaction in a person.
